March comes and we return to Prospect Park.
It’s still cold and the trees are bare. We can still dig for some treasures under the hardened ground, but the best of all is to be there – witnessing Spring coming from Day One! Birds chirping, squirrels making nests, tiny bits of green showing on every single branch and the sun shining warmer each day, calling for the turtles to come out of the water to soak up the rays.
We love Spring!
We go to many different parts of the park, sing cheerful songs while walking. We collect sticks, stones, and we celebrate every single change we see. We tell stories, observe the little animals building their nests, we collect natural materials to also build our own “home”, make little pots out of clay, little food out of mud, build stoves out of rocks and sticks, brooms out of branches to clean the leaves, climb little trees, run with our “horses” made out of stick and use our imagination to create our own environment in the park as if we were living there. We Play! And there is nothing better than that.
